1. Two Hurricane Bars should be used per window or opening. Three to Four bars may be necessary for unusually tall doors or windows.
2. Loosen black knob (Caution: device contains a spring. Safety goggles should be worn. Hold Hurricane Bar in vertical position away from face or other persons when loosening knob. Smaller tube should be on top.)
3. Compress Hurricane Bar and position horizontally between window or door casing on flat surface with black knob facing out towards you. Position top bar approximately 10"-16" down from top of opening and bottom bar 10"-16" from bottom of opening. Make sure bars are as level as possible.
4. Once bars are positioned and leveled, tighten black knob. If needed, use wrench provided to tighten knob - DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN, SNUG ONLY.
5. Use wrench provided or 9/16" open-end wrench to back out "Foot" on end of Hurricane Bar. 3-5 turns should suffice. This will secure Hurricane Bar in window or door casing.
